| Neck
and throat pain related to chemo? |
Question:
My wife has BC mets to liver.
She had her third A/C on Monday.
Little nausea and pain until now.
Now she complains of stiff neck and sore throat.
She has been sleeping using sleeping pills and has taken lots of Percodan
and Kytril.
I am wondering if I should report the
neck pain and throat pain to her Oncologist.
Or, perhaps it is because of the way
she has been "sleeping" on it? Her "port"
still hurts. Her "tumor" markers have
gone from 60 to 20.
She has a liver CT scan in two weeks to compare to her first in early Sept.
that indicated a 5cm and a 2cm mark on one and the other lobe of her liver.
BTW, her breast lump still has not been removed.
Any comments on the stiffness?
Answer:
Report everything.
They can always ignore what they are not interested in
anyway.
A sore throat could be a bacterial infection. Remember that under chemo she
is immuno-compromised. Such things take urgent action if they are not to get
out of hand.
A little story: while under chemo my wife decided to visit friends in
London, 200 miles away, for a weekend. They were going to see a show, go
sightseeing etc. She went by train, and when she got there she felt unwell
and had a temperature. We called the oncs and they told her to get her a.s
straight over to the nearest casualty ward. So she and her friends spent
their 'evening out' queuing in a hospital reception area, and she spent her
weekend break in a hospital bed on a diet of antibiotics.
