| Need advice on neck pain |
Question:
I am having alot of neck pain lately
and have been wondering if anyone
has had success with any particular
drug (OA) that would help more then
others? Lets see, I've taken today
already - Darvocets,Somas,Valium,Voltaren
and now have an ice pack on. The pain
is still there and won't go away.
This happens from time to time and
would probably have to blame it on
poor sleep and stress . Sometimes
I wish the Dr.would give me something
that would really put my neck to relaxation, perhaps
like seconals? Anyway, I would like
to get surgery done on my neck but
it sounds risky and may be worse after,
I'm told.
Answer:
You must really
be in quite a bit of pain. Depending on what your particular problem
is, I wonder if your doctor has ever given you any type exercises to do
to relieve the pressure on your disks in your neck and thereby a lot of
the pain. The best thing an ortho once did for me was to sell me a
booklet with many neck exercises for different type neck pain and they
have worked wonders for me. The exercises can be especially helpful if
you are causing additional pain to your neck by sleeping in an incorrect
position or with too many pillows.
Maybe you should ask your doctor (if you haven't already) if there is
anything else he can recommend to help your problem besides the
medication and a possible operation. Maybe your type problem cannot be
helped by any type special exercises but if it can, it could prove very
helpful in relieving some of your pain.
I have tried all types of muscle
relaxers over the years. I now have extreme OA in my neck. The Doctor said
that I had much more than a person much older than I should ever have. I do
have trouble when I get tired and tension adds much to the problem. The
latest medication that I have been taking for OA is Lodine 500mg. twice a
day. It has helped all of my complaints with the OA. I do not know how
long I will be taking it, since the DR. just wanted me to take it for this
month. I have to call every two weeks to let him know how I am doing. I
went online, and read all the side effects, so I know what he is checking
for. Maybe this would help you. It is an anti-inflammatory and pain relief
in one med.
