| Lower back pain relief |
Question:
I have used self-hypnosis to control
lower and upper back pain for the
last 2 1/2 years. I ask my unconsious
to contract muscles in such a way
as to relieve any spinal subluxations.
I've let my unconscious mind become
my chiropractor. I use this trance
utilization rather than analgesia
which might just mask serious back
problems. Any comments on similar
utilizations of hypnosis?
Answer:
I use an associative imaging technique which requires only very light
trance to be effective. (Strict folk please note: used as a complement
to manipulative therapy in chronic pain management cases). It's fast
and almost invariably works well.
i would recomend you have the cause of the problem (hypertonia?)
investigated by a qualified osteopath/chiropractic, or perhaps you
have already done this?
In 1982 a lower back injury resulted in a fractured disk, which eventually
deteriorated. Although the doctors told me that I would have chronic back pain
for life, self-hypnosis has kept me pain-free about 90% of the time. However,
if I attempt to lift anything heavy, my back makes me pay the price.
My autosuggestion was primarily to eliminate all unwanted pain while allowing
enough pain to warn me if and when I tried to overwork my back. Thus far,
after 15-years of tolerable back comfort with only occasional pain
personally use self-hypnosis for results-only to keep my back from making me
suffer chonic pain. However, the former injuries were diagnosed and treated.
With regards to headaches, the cause should first be diagnosed by a
licensed physician (in order to assure there is no serious medical problem
such as tumor, internal bleeding, etc.). Assuming it is ok to use hypnosis,
the subconscious could be asked whether there is a SUBCONSCIOUS cause of the
headaches.
