| BACK AND NECK PAIN - ARTHRITIS? |
|
Question:
I have been having periodic mid-back
and neck pain(base of skull radiates
to temples) for some time now - I have
noticed that the timing always seems
to coincide with humid weather. Does
anyone share my experience or can shed
any light on.
What does this sounds like? Does this
sound like some form of arthritis?
Answer:
The bulk of the US population has arthritis in the neck by the age of 40-45,
so if you are that age, you could very possibly have arthritis in the neck.
Neck pain is frequently felt in the mid-back under or between the shoulder blades.
If you sit a lot in your work, you might want to examine the ergonomics of
your work situation, also driving a lot can be a problem, always use a lumbar
cushion. Regular walking may help, overhead lifting/pushing/pulling may
aggravate it...all of these are true if it is arthritis.
Just another nursing opinion and a sufferer of chronic neck pain for many years.
