Pain in back of knee cause?
Question:
Last weekend I rode the Solvang half century. It was my first. I trained up to it, but I rode with a friend at a higher than usual pace. Now this week when I got back on the bike I have pain on the underside of my right knee. How long should I stay off to recover? and is this typical of seat too low/ too high?

Answer:

Yes. Typically the saddle is too high and/or too far back if you are getting pain behind your knee. Probbaly aggravated by pedaling harder than usual to go faster. IIRC the area around there is kind of hilly, too? Rest the knee a couple of days, check your saddle position and take some NSAIDs (ibuprofen, narpoxen, etc) for the pain and inflammation. Start riding again gradually.
