Severe Neck Pain Symptom
Question:
Does anyone suffer severe back of the neck pain?? I am in constant pain with this problem.

Answer:

I have currently started this symptom back in Sept. It comes and goes with me. Seems that one theroy is that the HHV6 Virus lives in the lymph node glands in the back of the neck. I take Symmetrel for it and gennerally in a few days it passes. But all the time it is very active I have trouble even turning over in bed.

Any stress at all increases it and I pray that it passes and gennerally it does. Also this is unusual to help the pain but a heat pad placed one the side of the neck gennerally help the neck pain go away. I switch sides with it and it helps the neck pain pass quicker.

The severe pain I get in the back of my neck is at the base of my skull. I only get this pain in the worst of my relapses. I think this pain I get is some sort of inflamation of the brain stem. Although my diagnosis is not actually CFS, the list has been unbelievably helpful to me, both in the sense community and in the amount I have learned.

My actual diagnosis is chronic Lyme disease which was misdiagnosed as CFS/FM for many years. I am, therefore, always concerned that others might be misdiagnosed ,because Lyme tests are notoriously inaccurate.

Neck pain is a common symptom of Lyme disease. For m e it was an early symptom that finally went away . My neck was so stiff that I wondered if I had menningitis.
