| Neck Muscle Pain Question |
|
Question:
My wife has been experiencing pain in her upper shoulders and neck for
along time. At one point she was diagnosed with TMJ but that seems to
have subsided. We've done the chiropractor routine and made our
contribution to their economic well being (to no avail). I am open to
suggestions?
Answer:
The terrible unremitting
neck and upper shoulder pain is a usual symptom of lyme disease. Does her neck make an
unusual load crunching sound when she turns her head?
Get to a MRI facility. Stay away from chiropracters unless
and until any neuro involvement has been ruled out. As a RN I
was constantly putting off my neck shoulder and head pain as
stress related, until an MRI showed a whopping Chiari
malformation. It just goes to show you that you should be VERY
sure you know what you are dealing with before you decide to
treat it!
