Any herbal pain remedies?
Question:
I need a muscle relaxer or good strong herbal pain killer for a bad back and neck. Do any such herbs exist?

Answer:

Try physical means first, like hot packs, massage, and mild stretching exercises.

First - check your ergonomics ... are you working long hours over a computer? the pain is trying to tell you something about your body.

Fix the work environment so you are working in a sustainable position, with head erect, shoulders relaxed and not hunched, for your most common movements. If you wear bifocals it forces you to tip your head back to look at a screen ... not good. Get single-vision glasses for computer work so you can look straight ahead.

Valerian has a muscle relaxant effect. As for pain killers - good old aspirin works well. Some of the sports rubs and liniments are good for temporary relief, but if you fix the pain without fixing the cause you can do permanent damage.

I understand that Kava Kava has some muscle relaxant properties. For Arthritic type pain, some say that Cats Claw is good. I am sorry to say that when I get these kind of problems, sometimes the only relief is from a drug. I have found the two herbs above to be helpful though there are times when more is needed.
