Lower Back Pain In Pregnancy
Question:
I have a question concerning back pain. I know that back pain can be a part of pregnancy but when does it usually start and what does it feel like? The reason I am asking is because I have been having a lot of back pain in the last week. My job entails daily lifting, stooping and twisting. In December I hurt my back at work (lower lumbar sprain) and then again in February shortly after I found out I was pregnant.

My concern is, how do I know if it is my job that is causing the pain or if it is just pregnancy? If it is my job, I can do other things that do not require all of the heavy lifting and twisting but I don't know if I should restrict myself at work if it is just another pregnancy symptom. The pain I am experiencing occurs quite often if I just bend over, sometimes just walking and also just lifting my leg. It is a very sharp pain. Right now I am almost 18 weeks pregnant and I have gained approximately 12 lbs. (if weight gain has anything to do with it?)

Answer:

I don't really have an answer for you but, I have been having the same kind of backpain as well and I haven't had any previous injuries. Even lifting my leg a little really hurts and by the end of the day I am really sore. I have found a heat pack on my lower back really helps. I have also started getting pinched nerves or some such thing on the insides of my thighs.
