| Lower Back And Pelvic Pain |
|
Question:
I was diagnosed with
endo about 2 and a half years ago when I had a lap to remove a large
cyst (which turned out to be an endometrioma) from my ovary. I've been
doing pretty well painwise on birth control pills since then, but
lately the pain has gotten a lot worse.
The absolute worst is lower
back pain that's there 24/7 - from the second I wake up, all through
the day, until I go to sleep. its relentless! its right in the small
of my back and feels like someone is sticking an ice pick in there.
sometimes its literally hard to stand up, and nothing seems to help -
I've tried Advil, Alleve, heating pad, ice, warm baths - I have days
where its better, but then its back again.
I have pelvic pain, too,
but its the back pain thats really getting me down. how common is this
symptom with endo? Has anyone suffered with it? Has anything
helped to relieve it? I am truly at my wit's end but don't want to go
the next step to Lupron or, at this point, another surgery. My doctor
refuses to prescribe anything stronger than over-the-counter pain
medication. Can anyone help?
Answer:
I live with back pain too 24/7. I was told that my adhesions was
really close to the spinal cord. My other doctor seems to think because the
pain Im feeling now is from scares from the adhesions. Whats funny is that
my adhesions was in the back area and thats it! I have not had anything
really help with the pain because the doctors here are to scared to give
anything to me.
They act as if there selling drugs instead of helping
anymore. I have never once been on a strong pain drug. I do get fed up with
it. I have took 5 tylenols and caused myself to have chest flutters, it got
rid of some pain, but its really rediculous that one has to attempt to go
that far to get relief.
I also found out that I have deterating tissue in
the spin and a unleveled hip. You would think in most cases with all this
being ontop of Endo they would prescribe you something. Guess what? They
won't. You might want to get it investigated, because if you don't start now
it's just going to be farther on down the road for help.
I suggest you get a new doctor. Only allowing OTC meds for someone in
such life-altering pain is ridiculous! OTC drugs are not made for that.
It's sadistic, the way most doctors hoard pain medication prescriptions.
Besides, while I don't know too much about back pain, I know there are
doctors who specialize in it. Maybe you should call around and see if
any in your area have experience with both pelvic and back problems.
I sympathize with your pain. It fits the description of mine pretty
well, except mine is in the front. I would look for a new doctor. For
every day for the rest of my life, I'll regret not going serious doctor
shopping at the start of my problem. I learned too late that if I had
found someone decent back then, I wouldn't be looking at spending the
rest of my life in disabling pain now.
