Head And Neck Pain
Question:
I was diagnosed with Fibro. 2 days before this past Christmas. I have been suffering with this since 1988 and figured it was finally time to take some action. My main problem is pain and pressure in my head and neck. Sometimes I feel like my head is simply going to explode!

I also have very bad lower back pain. My doctor prescribed elavil which I am now taking and I have been sleeping much better. I also have an extremely low white blood cell count which I have monitored every 3 months. My Rheumatoligist says the two conditions are not related...does anyone else have this problem?

Answer:

My 7 year old son was diagnosed with Fibro about 3 weeks ago. His main complaints are that his head, throat, ears and chest hurt. He has had a low white blood cell count for over 3 months now. They first associated it with the fact that he had Mono but the Mono is all gone now.

Have you tried to find out the actual cause for your head and neck pains? Have you had an X-ray, for instance?

Unfortunately, some substantial problems are overlooked simply because we have the tag of FMS and/or CFIDS. I recently found that out by pursuing the reason for my neck and spinal pain and I found out I have scoliosis of my spine and osteoporotic changes in my neck. They are the reasons for my pain and no FMS treatments would be appropriate for it.

If everything checks out ok x-ray wise I would suggest seeing a Physical Therapist who knows how to treat Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofacial pain syndrome. I had severe TMJ, headaches, upper back and neck pain for two years. I started PT , It took 8 months but I'm now 90% better. I had even gone to a TMJ
