| Exercise For Sciatic Pain |
|
Question:
Anyone dealing with sciatic pain? My left hip is killing me. It
started a couple of months ago with hip pain radiating down the leg and
a stabing pain in my heal. Then my heal started getting numb. I finally
gave in and went to the dr and he said sciatic , changed my pain med and
showed me exercises to do which didn't really help.
Today, back to the
dr to discuss the pain med and my hip. He wanted xrays so I had that
done and now I wait. My hip sure hurts! I'm trying to sit lop sided
where that cheek don't have any pressure on it but that don't really
work. By the end of the day from hip to heal just throbs. I really did
not need this "pain in the butt". Any ides for more exercises?
Answer:
I too suffer from sciatic pain. At first I thought it was just the FM,
but The pain patterns are too similar to the sciatic type pain. I have done a few things that
have truely helped the pain. The one exercise I do is Doing Keagle
exercises helps stregthen the muscles around your SI area so your Sciatic
nerves might have a chance of not getting pinched. I do them every day.
If
you don't know what this exercise is it's just squeezing your but real hard and
holding it for a few seconds and then gradually, and in a controlling manner
release the muscles.
The best thing that I have found is the heating
pad. I have one at home, in the car, and at work. What a difference it makes!
They sell AC adapters that you can plug into your car lighter enabling you to
plug in that heating pad! I have the extra large size heating pads because you
can just wrap them up around the whole back and side of the hip! I take
Tylenol/Cod #6 for the pain. So far it's about the only thing that will stop
the pain.
