| Exercise For Sciatic Nerve Pain |

Question:
I have problems with sciatica during my pregancy --
pain in my legs, back, and/or buttocks. Would someone please
let me know of exercises to do that relieve the pain??
Answer:
Mine hurts mostly on my right side, specifically the right buttock.
It does radiate into my thigh and lower back sometimes. It hurts
mostly when I walk. I started having it sometime in my 5th month with
my last pregnancy. I'm pregnant again and this time it started
earlier. I'm 20 weeks along and have been having sciatic pain for
about a week now. Both times mine lasted till after the baby was
born. Resting in a comfortable position is what I was told to do.
But I do have a stretching exercise as well.
I sit down with my legs
stretched in front of me. I bend and cross my right leg over my left
and push my right knee downwards to the ground. This produces a
stretch through the thigh and buttocks and helps alleviate the pain
sometimes. Then I rest comfortably for a little while. I'm not
looking forward to spending the next 20 weeks or so with this pain
again.
