| Epidural Shots for Back Pain |
Question:
Had a question for those of you that have chronic back pain. I am going
to a pain management clinic who wants to do 3 epidural injections to see if
it can help my back. I have gone through all this before , right before i
had a discectomy, lol so I am a little leary this will not work. However the
doc I am seeing is almost insisting that I have them done before he will
provide anyother treatment.
This is the 2 pain guy I have been to as the 1st
one told me he could not help me.. Any thought on things I can tell the doc
to help steer him into another direction?
Answer:
This sounds very farmiliar..my pain clinic did the same thing.and
all they did was hurt me, and get more money from me. This is a
typical clinic scam..theyl you they will not help you unless you put
up with all their crap, jump through their hoops. Fight him, and tell
him flatly that you refuse to undergo useless treatments to line his
pockets.
Next, they will tell you that you have to have PT at their
facility (if they have one), see their psychologist (if they have one)
and get a stimulator implant, or a med pump implant.anything to get
your money for more and more invasive treatments.
I may be wrong, but I don't think so. Be honest with the doc, and
tell him you don't want the injections. If he still says he won't do
anything else if you don't accept them, then tell him he is
blackmailing you, and you don't appreciate it. It isn't like the
injections are going anywhere, if you change your mind in the
future.ask to try something non-invasive first, then see what he says
about that. Don't appear to be argumentative or uncooperative, just
very leery about invasive treatments until other options have been
utilized.
I was hospitalized for an entire week and unable to walk after I had an
epidural injection, the doctor didnt stick the needle in the right place
and I got an air bubble in my spine. It was the worse pain I have ever had
in my life. I highly suggest not getting them.
