Injuries Common in the US |
|
Question:
I regularly lift weights and have had problems latley with a back injury. I went
back to the doctor yesterday. 2 months off the weights, and it was still no
better. My back hurt just after moving furniture the other week so I thought
time to get to the physio. I went to the doctor to see about a referral yesterday, and
she suspected that it was a muscle spasm. Just been searching the net, and I am
99.9% sure i have found the problem -
psoas major
I have seen a website where it showed you where this was, and it is totally the
area, it also explains why its sore over quite a long area, this
muscle/nerve goes from the top of the thigh to the bottom of the spine, down
your left and right hand side, mines is sore on the right.
Now that I have discovered this I thought it would be worth a shot seeing if
anyone else has injured this? I just read its the most common injury in the
USA, and is second only to headache for time off work in the usa. So I'm
guessing its a very common injury!
Answer:
I don;t think it is a muscle spasm. When I first hurt my back, my doctor's sugesstion was,
to have some painkilers. Six months later I was seeing people at
my local PT. Most doctors are not specialists, and even for common back
stuff you need a specialist.
