Cause Of Upper Back Pain
Question:
Does anyone else have excruciating upper back pain with Crohn's Disease? I have joint pains, sometime severe. My GI once told me that my upper back pain might be from arthralgia in my rib cage. My CD seems to be flaring again.

I just had surgery for two recto-vag fistulas. This past week my back is killing me. I can't lay down, I can't hardly move around. I have heard some say that your gall bladder can cause upper back pain (referred pain). Has anyone else had this problem?

Answer:

Yes, I have experienced upper back pain. Have had Crohn's and been taking prednisone for 30 years. My uper back pain was due to degenerative disk disease. Had decompression surgery (C5-6) in March. My problem may be a result of long term prednisone usage. However, there are numerous problems which can cause upper back pain. I also had weakness and partial paralysis in my right arm.
