| Description of Back Rib Pain |
Question:
This is a description of a debilitating pain I get.
I discover its presence when I wake up. Its a very strong
pain that seems to be starting somewhere in the lowest rib
at the back, midway between the back and the side. If you
put your hands on your waist, hands splayed to the back
and thumbs facing the front you'll be right on it. Can anyone let me know what this could be?
Answer:
I'm not surprised that most of your pain is in the back, since the diaphragm
is connected all the way around to the spine. I've been working with a
massage therapist, and we're working on releasing all the emotional/physical
tension in my diaphragm, which is where I've stored a lot of my emotional
stress. Although I have tenderness in my diaphragm at the sternum, most of
the pain is in the muscles in my spine in the lower back. It's all tied
together. We are working on releasing the tension in the diaphragm and also
stretching out the muscles in the spine. Hope this helps.
