| Back Pain And Certain Types of Cancer |

Question:
What is the general nature of upper back pain associated with
pancreatic cancer. Would it be a more or less continual pain that
wouldn't get better or worse according to what position the body was in
or would it be like a pulled muscle?
Answer:
My friend's brother thought it was from working at the computer; I think
she said it was nagging, constant and worsening. (It wasn't positional, but
he noticed it more when at rest). He had pancreatic cancer.
I'm 23, the back pain started very, very quick. One minute I was
standing, hadn't been doing much heavy lifting, no more than 15 pounds
and not for long.
The next minute I was having fairly severe back pain
in the area below my left shoulder blade and was scrambling for the car
to try and sit down. I just have a couple of the other symptoms of
pancreatic cancer, some weight loss, abdominal pain, and am mildly
concerned.
My only hope is that it came on in a matter of seconds and
does get worse if I move, head down, left arm over my head, etc is
worse, hopefully something else. If pancreatic cancer is as untreatable
as I have read, I'd rather not even see a doctor.
