Question:
I am suffering from chronic back pain
since 5 years. The pain gets worse
when I am stressed. A doctor diagnosed
a protruding disc between L5 and S1
and muscular insatability around the
hips. This is sometimes so bad that
I can hardly walk. I have been to
an osteopath which always helped for
a week and I am currently going to
a physiotherapist. However, as I am
having problems since 3 month in a
row now I am getting desperate. I
just can't enjoy life at the moment
at all.
Any help will be massively appreciated.
I wonder if besides the physical side
there is a connection to a food allergy.
I feel I have to eat regularly at
present. Any alternative medicine
advise would be appreciated as well.
Answer:
Unfortunatley, the establishment does
not put much weight in alternative
methods of treatment. I think much
of this attack on the increase in
the practise of Alternative Medicine
is because the medical profession
is concerned that much of the lolly
they want is going elsewhere. The
medical profession has only two ways
of dealing with physical illnesses,
drugs or operations and these are
only necessary in a small percentage
of cases. In other cases they can
be harmful. Many people want to be
able to get more from health advisors
than drugs and medicine. So they turn
to Alternative Medicine.
In your country there are 43 million
people without health insurance,Fred.
If alternative medicine is less expensive
than going to a doctor etc. then those
people will try anything, and alternative
medicine will flourish whether it
has been scientifically proven to
be worthwhile or not . Some people
might also be disillusioned with doctors,
or may want to try anything before
going for that heavy operation, and
may not care about expense.
Besides 70 to 80 % of all illnesses
are said to be psychosomatic, in which
case just the belief that a treatment
will be good is often enough to make
it so with many people. So they turn
to Alternative Medicine. You can't
take that away from people unless
it is proved to be harmful.
