Question:
My Dad has osteoarthritis and is in
constant back pain when he's up and
about. If he stays seated he's ok.
He's 79 with too much metal in his
body for MRI imaging. He's also had
2 discs removed years ago. And has
been told he has a degenerating back.
What can he do? I have heard acupuncture
may be benficial.
Answer:
Yes it is possible he may find some
relief from Acupuncture. Acupuncture
has proven results for back pain treatment
same for a TENS unit, hydrotherapy,
& other non-invasive treatments.
There are clinics specializing in
pain management for patients of all
ages with all sorts of problems, with
more opening up all the time. They
are usually staffed with professionals
like MD's, DC's, PT's, Acupuncturists,
& MT's & offer a variety of services.
The facilities often include heated
pools, exercise equipment, etc. Check
out some of them.
